Early Years

Early years

So, I’ve been doing this for a while…

The Beginning

I have been interested in art for as long as I can remember and have always loved history too, thanks to my mum’s retelling of British history, especially the Tudors and Mary Queen of Scots. When I was nine years old I realized I could combine my love of history and art if I became a costume designer, and I never looked back.

I fell in love with historical clothing and developed a passion for the Victorian era. I nagged my parents for sewing lessons and the first thing I wanted to make was a Victorian dress made from taffeta. It took me a year to learn to sew first, before my teacher would let me make the dress, which took at least another six months to complete, but I was very happy with the result.

It’s been eight years since then and I am now more passionate than ever about costume design, so I am applying to college to make my dream come true.
